It is located about 4 km north of the city of Esposende, one of the major beach resorts north of Porto, and about 20 km south of Viana do Castelo, a beautiful city with an impressing history. The villa can be rented for 8 persons using only the main part of the house (170m2), or for 14/16 persons, using the main part plus the basement (100m2) which has its own kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 double bedrooms. In either case, you will always be the only client in the house, as the basement will not be rented separately.
The main house offers excellent facilities in the glass covered terrace with sea view: snooker, indoor barbeque and fitness equipment. The living/dining room is huge, however the furniture is a little old fashioned. The kitchen is enormous and fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave. It is part of a large Quinta dating back to 1820, and now divided in a main building where the owners live, and 5 holiday homes around a beautiful garden and a communal swimming pool with separate paddling pool. You can eat together in 1 of the apartments or in the adega which has enough room for 12 people, or outside in the Portuguese sunlight. The 3 connected holiday homes, Casa do Curral, Casa do Alambique and Casa do Caseiro, can also be rented separately for 4 persons each. The other 2 holiday homes are detached. There is a chapel on the estate where marriages regularly take place, an idyllic location to tie the knot! The Quinta is 26 acres, with 10 acres vineyards and 2 acres olive gardens. The current owner has renovated the buildings from 2003 and 2004 with beauty and style. The property is set amidst the glorious scenery of green hills cultivated with olives and vines. The holiday house is over 100 years old and is built around a beautiful courtyard on a 5,500m2 plot of land. Its old world ambience and tranquility never fails to inspire harmony and peace. The tree filled private garden with different coloured bougainvillea is the perfect place to sit back and relax under its magnificent enchanted palm tree. The large fresh water swimming pool offers an area where you can relax and soak up the Portuguese sun; the pool area is particularly attractive with its own bar, sitting room with log fire, outside dinning area and BBQ.
The holiday house consists of a main house (340m2), pool house (280m2), which overlooks the swimming pool and stable house (guest house 120m2) with high bamboo ceiling, old bread fireplace and old stable doors leading out onto the courtyard on one side and vegetable garden (eg. carob, almond and citrus trees) on the other. The main house contains a large well-equipped kitchen and generously sized dining areas. The rooms are all simple authentic Portuguese style, light, spacious and decorated with traditional items.
The holiday house is just a 10 min. drive away from the centre of Almancil and Loulé with its vibrant market. For sports and relaxation, the Algarve is the right place to be, the neighbourhood offers various types of sport, leisure and entertainment activities (incl. golf, tennis, all seaside activities, fine choice of restraunts & beach bars). The house is situated just 15 min. from Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago golf courses with their beaches edged with brightly coloured cliffs. The natural reserve Ria Formosa (10km) and the south western tip of Europe, Cabo de São Vicente (81km) are well worth a visit.
With all this and more is the house an excellent place where friends and families can relax in its spacious setting and warm and friendly atmosphere.
Note: twice each week cleaning service is included. The caretaker Victor lives on site (in a separate cottage on the property) and maintains everything and is a fountain of knowledge about the surrounding areas. Lisbon has an average of 300 days of sun per year. This makes it an ideal city holiday destination. The holiday home consists of six apartments. One of which has dining facilities for 10 people. Sleeping accommodation is in the apartments on the ground floor, second floor and third floor (there is no lift). All apartments are pleasantly furnished.
There are restaurants, cafes and excellent little shops in the immediate area. The delightful narrow streets, the smell of fresh coffee and the friendly locals make a stay in Madragoa a great experience. The Santos tram-stop is only 500 metres up the hill. It is only a few stops to the famous monument of the Torre de Belem. You can also explore the other direction which takes you into the heart of Lisbon. The airport is 9 km away.
